Serge J-F. Levy: Religion in Prisons

Brilliant Photojournalist Serge J-F. Levy takes on an assignment to explore ‘Religion In Prisons’. His picture of an isolated Jew in prayer is attached to the banner at the top of JPSI’s website. In this candid shot, Rabbi/Chaplain Michael Chill of Green Haven Correctional Facility in Stormville, New York teaches a class in the facility’s Jewish chapel. (We placed the bars over the inmates’ eyes to protect their identities.) Serge’s prison photos have been assembled by Chaplain Friedman into a traveling exhibit for the American Correctional Chaplains Association.
